For a long time, WWE Smackdown has LA Knight listed as a top babyface superstar under their banner. With fans cheering for him so much, the question was when WWE was planning to give him the big push. Possibly, the time begins for him, right now capitalizing on the emotions that he was the last opponent for the late great Bray Wyatt.
According to the new internal WWE roster list after the Payback premium live event, LA Knight has been promoted to be the number-one babyface on the WWE SmackDown brand. Here’s what the source WrestleVotes reported about the change on the roster which could finally signal a push for the talent,
“The latest ‘talent board’, which is used internally, saw an update post Payback on 9/3. Interesting news from the SmackDown side lists LA Knight as the top babyface. In addition, Bobby Lashley & The Street Profits are now categorized as heels.”

WWE Smackdown: LA Knight to get more TV time?
The report of Knight’s current status within the company indicates that there’s potential for him to be involved in bigger storylines on WWE Smackdown. He has recently been in positions where he could’ve won the United States Championship or the Money in the Bank briefcase but WWE held him from winning those considering the time wasn’t accurate.
However, based on this latest report, he could finally get involved in a title picture or get more TV time on WWE Smackdown on a weekly basis. For now, he’s involved in a feud with The Miz. He also defeated the former WWE Champion at WWE Payback 2023 on September 2, with John Cena acting as the guest referee. The Miz wasn’t happy about his loss due to Cena and he lashed out about this on the September 4 episode of Raw, this past Monday night.
The current assumption is Bray Wyatt’s sudden demise could help Knight to get even more babyface steam on WWE Smackdown since he faced Wyatt at this year’s Royal Rumble. In an interview with 98.5 The Sports Hub, Knight shared how it felt to work in a feud with the former leader of the Wyatt Family,
“…In a lot of ways, that whole interaction and that whole story kind of helped to get me the visibility to get me where I am now.”
