WWE is building towards a grand version of Money In The Bank PPV event in front of a live audience and the process will continue on this week’s SmackDown. A huge MITB Ladder Match qualifier has been announced as the main event of the show. Plus, there will be fallouts on Edge receiving a title match on the show that takes place at the Yuengling Center in Tampa, Florida.

The main event scene of SmackDown saw a massive change with the return of Edge, last week. After a hiatus of two months, he was back to pounce on Roman Reigns. If it wasn’t for Jimmy Uso then the champion was on the verge of suffering a Con-Chair-To from the returnee. But Jimmy’s interference let him escape the scene with Paul Heyman.

WWE Smackdown Preview (02/07/21): Seth Rollins’ obligations

Following SmackDown, Edge made his way into Adam Pearce and Sonya Deville’s office and demanded a match against Reigns for the title at WWE Money in the Bank on July 18. The two officials immediately granted his request as the title match was announced, right away. Seth Rollins wasn’t happy with this happening, at all.

The SmackDown Savior was the guest of Talking Smack at the time when the post-show footage rolled and he showed frustrations. Rollins said he was promised the title shot at the PPV after requesting the same to Adam Pearce following his big win over Cesaro at Hell In A Cell 2021 PPV. But that title shot has now gone to Edge. Rollins is likely to protest the decision, tonight.

From SmackDown, Big E has qualified for the upcoming Men’s Money In the Bank Ladder Match. He won a non-title qualifier over WWE Intercontinental Champion Apollo Crews to earn that spot. Ricochet, John Morrison, Riddle, and Drew McIntyre are the other four names from Raw to qualify for the ladder match.

Another spot from the blue brand will be filled in the Men’s MITB Ladder Match when Sami Zayn faces Kevin Owens in a Last Man Standing match, tonight. The two of them recently faced at Hell In A Cell PPV event with Zayn picking up the win while Adam Pearce announced the rematch with a big stipulation attached to the match. After this match, two more SmackDown spots for the Men’s Money In the Bank Ladder Match will remain.

In more news for the Women’s Money In the Bank Ladder Match, Sonya Deville announced that Carmella would be her first selection for the match from SmackDown side. Carmella did not have to qualify who entered the fray via her past accolades. Liv Morgan had some problems with that announcement as she had already defeated Mella, the prior week.

Liv Morgan was then granted a rematch with Carmella with the stipulation that if she could win, she could make it to the Women’s MITB Ladder Match. She did win that match but it was never confirmed that Morgan has earned a spot. It should be clarified, this week whether Morgan is part of the Women’s MITB Ladder Match from the SmackDown side.
