The Road to Wrestlemania 38 continues through this week’s WWE Smackdown where the headliner name will be Ronda Rousey. For the first time ever, the 2022 Royal Rumble winner will be competing on a blue brand show, this week in a singles contest.
Apart from this match, two title matches are also set to happen. Sami Zayn will put his title on the line against mid-card babyface star Ricochet. Plus, The Viking Raiders will also receive a title match against The Usos when WWE Smackdown will air from the FTX Arena in Miami, Florida.
Ronda Rousey vs. Charlotte Flair has been confirmed for Night One of WrestleMania 38 over the WWE Smackdown Women’s Championship and it’s also supposed to be the main event of that night.
En route to the match, The Baddest Woman on the Planet will be seen in her first one-on-one singles match since her Beat The Clock win over Sarah Logan on the March 25, 2019, RAW, and her singles RAW Women’s Title defense over current WWE 24/7 Champion Dana Brooke during the March 18 episode of that year. Plus, this will be Rousey’s first-ever outing inside the squared circle on WWE Smackdown which is why the match is getting hyped in a big way.
Wrestlemania 38: WWE To Host Another Tryout Camp For Young Athletes
Rousey vs. Deville was booked after last week’s opening segment on WWE SmackDown where Michael Cole interviewed Rousey. She plugged in her win with Naomi over Deville and SmackDown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair at WWE Elimination Chamber.
Flair came out and talked trash about her from the entranceway. The distraction allowed Deville to pounce on Rousey from behind with a chop block. Flair also attacked Rousey and wrapped her hurt leg around the ring post a few times. But ultimately, Rousey took Deville out with a judo throw after which Adam Pearce confirmed the match.

WWE Smackdown Preview (04/03/22): Intercontinental Title match
Over on last week’s WWE Smackdown, Sami Zayn come to the ring to celebrate his Intercontinental title win over Shinsuke Nakamura, the week before. During his promo, the Jackass theme song hit and out came Johnny Knoxville to challenge him to a title match. The segment ended with Sami taking out Knoxville with two Helluva kicks.
Zayn later talked with Adam Pearce backstage about the happening when Ricochet interrupted and mentioned how Zayn said about being a fighting champion, so he wanted to step up. Zayn obviously wasn’t happy about this but Pearce wasn’t either with him. As a result, Pearce booked Ricochet vs. Zayn for tonight’s WWE SmackDown with the title on the line.
In more announcements for the night, WWE Smackdown Tag Team Championships will be on the line as The Usos will be defending against The Viking Raiders.
Erik and Ivar of The Viking won a fatal-4-way contest to earn the right to challenge The Bloodline and the match was originally scheduled to happen at WWE Elimination Chamber on February 21. But WWE made a change and went forward with an attack angle as The Usos took out their challengers before the match could start.
Erik and Ivar eventually got their payback during a backstage segment on last week’s WWE SmackDown with an attack from behind who also proceeded to demand their title shot. WWE has now confirmed the title match for tonight and we’ll have to wait and see whether a title change awaits on the show.
