WWE has delivered two back to back pay-per-view events in the form of SummerSlam and Payback 2020 that should be gathering plenty of fallouts for tonight’s episode of SmackDown. A new Universal Champion will be the headliner for the show as The Big Dog is back to reclaim his throne, this time with the title around his waist.
However, he’ll quickly be receiving the first opponent of his title reign via the main event matchup. A Fatal-4-Way will go down on the show to determine the new number-one contender for the Universal Championship. Additionally, there will be a rematch on the show from Payback where the Women’s Tag Team Titles will be on the line when SmackDown airs from the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida.

WWE Smackdown Preview (04/09/20): Roman Reigns; Fatal-4-Way; Title Match
Roman Reigns is now being guidelined by none other than the most cunning manager of all-time in WWE history, Paul Heyman, and took advantage of it at WWE Payback 2020. He entered the triple threat title match at the very end and speared his way to the fifth world title reign of his career. Tonight he makes way to SmackDown as the new champion and WWE.com informed that he will deliver a winning speech,

“Roman Reigns will address the WWE Universe this Friday on SmackDown with Paul Heyman in tow. The Universal Champion will talk about his title victory at WWE Payback and his recent alignment with the controversial Heyman.
What does this newly formed alliance between Reigns and Heyman mean for the future of Friday Night SmackDown?”
Meanwhile, the new champion is also bringing a new title opportunity on Friday Night SmackDown. The Fiend Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman are likely to be out of the title picture, for now. Rather, four fresh names will be battling it out for the number-one contender’s position.

Big E, Matt Riddle, King Corbin, and Sheamus will face off in a Fatal-4-way for a Universal Title opportunity at WWE Clash of Champions 2020. Two separate rivalries will be unfolding in this match, eventually. Since Roman has turned into a heel, it’s likely that a babyface will be his challenger. Thus, we can expect either E or Riddle to come up with the win on SmackDown.

The Boss, Sasha Banks lost the Raw Women’s Championship to Asuka at The Biggest Event of the Summer, and then she and Bayley lost the Women’s Tag Team Titles to the team of Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax at Payback 2020. It’s a fact that The Queen of Spades & The Irresistible Force co-existed for long enough to get holds on those tag titles.
But they will be going through yet another test while putting those gold on the line in a rematch on SmackDown, against Sasha Banks and Bayley. Who’ll emerge, victorious? We’ll find out when tonight’s episode airs from the ThunderDome.
