As the storylines move towards SummerSlam 2021, WWE SmackDown will present its latest episode where we expect the Women’s Title Match for the PPV to get confirmed. The other title match feuds will also escalate while Finn Balor is confirmed to be in action on the show that takes place at the Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida.

Sasha Banks made her return on last week’s SmackDown to save Bianca Belair from a double-team attack by Zelina Vega and Carmella. This was Banks’ first appearance since losing the title to Belair in the main event of WrestleMania 37 Night One. The two embraced in a segment that received cheers from the crowd.

Later in the night, Banks and Belair defeated Vega and Carmella in the main event of SmackDown. The match ended with Banks applying the Bank Statement finisher on Carmella to get the submission win. After the match, Banks and Belair celebrated until Banks attacked Belair from behind, dropping her with a Backstabber.

The heel-turn drew boos from the crowd for all the right reasons as fans thought that Sasha Banks returned to be on the side of Belair. But by the end of last week’s show, she made it clear that she’s back for one reason only and that’s to regain the SmackDown Women’s Title. That being said, the WrestleMania rematch should be waiting for SummerSlam 2021 in August.

Another title match will take place, next month when the Universal Champion Roman Reigns defends against John Cena. Initially, the champion rejected the challenger for this match but last week, Cena invaded a contract signing session and put his signature on the contract to make the match, official. Roman Reigns was seen seething about the happening but he couldn’t do anything about it. It’s certain that there will be consequences from Cena’s actions.

WWE Smackdown Preview (06/08/21): Finn Balor vs. Baron Corbin

In the meantime, it was on the very segment of SmackDown that the ongoing feud between Baron Corbin and Finn Balor was amped up. The SummerSlam contract signing was originally hosted for a match between Balor and WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. Corbin attacked Balor before the latter could sign the contract, and laid him out at ringside.

Corbin then went to sign the contract so that he could put himself in the SummerSlam main event, but John Cena rushed the ring and took Corbin out, to confirm that the title match with Reigns happens in Las Vegas. Following the happenings, Balor vs. Corbin, a touted bout for SummerSlam has now been booked for this week’s SmackDown.

Seth Rollins viscously attacked Edge from behind, last week to continue their ongoing feud. It was then made clear that if he couldn’t be the Universal Champion then neither can be Edge. With a lot of history between the two, the duo is on a collision course at SummerSlam and we can expect the big match to get confirmed when SmackDown airs with the latest episode from Tampa, Florida.
