On a rare occasion on WWE TV, Smackdown is bringing back the old school gimmick as a special attraction, this week. They are reportedly promoting the show as a throwback edition where we can expect to witness some of the older content that WWE programming used to offer, back in the days. Not much has been disclosed about this upcoming episode except for a Wrestlemania rematch between Seth Rollins and Cesaro from the Yuengling Center in Orlando, Florida.

Cesaro is well on his way to the main event picture following his huge win over Seth Rollins at Wrestlemania 37. For the past few weeks, he’s been after the Universal Champion Roman Reigns for a title shot. Last week, he was out to make the save when Reigns tried to brutally assault Daniel Bryan. But the heel tandem of Reigns and Uso prevailed using the number-games.

Now another tough task awaits the Swiss Cyborg as he squares off against Seth Rollins on this Throwback episode of SmackDown. Despite the impressive victory on The Grandest Stage of Them All, Seth Rollins delivered sneak attacks on his adversary on a couple of occasions and made it clear that he is not done with Cesaro. So, the big-time rematch will go down, tonight with the winner potentially getting a future title shot.

Speaking of this, the champion Roman Reigns is on top of the world, literally. Last week, he defeated Daniel Bryan in a Career vs. Title match to end the latter one’s career for good. Showing aggression, The Head of the Table hit the exiting superstar with the vicious Con-Chair-to as Jey Uso stopped Cesaro by tying him in the ring ropes who had to watch helplessly. Perhaps, we would hear from Reigns on his actions on Smackdown.

Following a backstage sneak attack by Natalya and Tamina Snuka, the women’s tag team champions – Nia Jax and Shayna Baszler also came up short against the duo in a non-title tag team match on last week’s Smackdown. The two second-generation superstars scored a huge victory over The Queen of Spades and The Irresistible Force. As Tamina hit the Superfly Splash to pin Baszler, she can certainly expect to receive a title rematch from Wrestlemania at Backlash PPV.

The upcoming event will also witness Bianca Belair putting his title on the line against long-time rival Bayley. Last week, the SmackDown Women’s Champion and The Street Profits picked up a big win over Bayley and SmackDown Tag Team Champions Dolph Ziggler and Robert Roode in a Six-Person Mixed Tag Team Match. While the Profits could expect to receive a title shot via this win, Bayley must be seething from the outcome who must be finding a way to make a comeback when this Throwback edition airs from WWE ThunderDome.
