Roman Reigns is the undisputed king when it comes to WWE Smackdown. But following the 2021 edition of King of the Ring, he has a new competition while running the roost to the show. That being said, these two are going into a battle with the winner getting to run the show, for good. While this match is the headliner, more Survivor Series announcements are likely to arrive on this week’s episode that takes place at the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia.

Over on last Friday’s WWE SmackDown, King Xavier Woods defeated SmackDown Tag Team Champion Jimmy Uso in the main event match. Per the stipulation, Uso had to bend his knee to Woods, but Reigns interrupted that post-match segment, leading The Bloodline for an ambush towards Woods and Sir Kofi Kingston.

After the assault, The Tribal Chief stood over Woods and proclaimed, “If you show up next week, I’ll show you what a real king looks like.” Then on Twitter, Woods issued a response via a video to accept the challenge issued by Reigns and set up the match for this edition of WWE Smackdown.

Since then, WWE has announced a Battle for the Rule of SmackDown for the Friday night show. The non-title bout will see King Xavier Woods locking up horns with WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. The winner of this match will be able to say that they run the blue brand.

Roman Reigns is currently slated to feature in a champion vs. champion match against WWE Champion Big E at Survivor Series while King Woods will participate in a traditional tag team match at the PPV.

WWE Smackdown Preview (12/11/21): Survivor Series builds

WWE has announced two big 5-on-5 Survivor Series Elimination Matches for the November 21 pay-per-view. Team WWE RAW’s Seth Rollins, Finn Balor, Kevin Owens, Rey Mysterio, and Bobby Lashley will battle TeamWWE SmackDown’s Woods, Jeff Hardy, Drew McIntyre, Sami Zayn, and Happy Baron Corbin.

From the women’s division action, Team RAW’s Bianca Belair, Queen Zelina, Carmella, Liv Morgan, and WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Rhea Ripley will battle Team SmackDown’s Sasha Banks, Shayna Baszler, Natalya, Aliyah, and Shotzi.

With the bragging rights competition barely coming within just ten days of time, competition will be high among the WWE Smackdown locker room members, it appears. It’ll be interesting to see which superstars will be able to make an impression ahead of the Big-Four event.

Shotzi is likely to be involved in a feud with Sasha Banks after attacking The Boss, a couple of weeks ago. WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair is currently booked against Raw Women’s Champion Becky Lynch at Survivor Series. Hence, either Banks or Shotzi will have to wait to get an opportunity to the championship, anyway.
