Just more than a week away from SummerSlam 2021, WWE is coming up with yet another episode of SmackDown where the rivalry between Edge and Seth Rollins will make progression. John Cena will be in attendance to confront Roman Reigns and possibly to compete in a match on the show that takes place at the BOK Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
John Cena did not appear on last week’s SmackDown, but it has been confirmed that he will be appearing, live, this week. He had already signed a contract to confirm the SummerSlam title shot he was gunning from WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. With this title match being official, WWE is now teasing that a Cena vs. Finn Balor match could happen.
Becky Lynch Targeted By WWE Smackdown Women’s Champion Bianca Belair
Balor appeared on last week’s SmackDown who was not happy with how Cena ended up signing his SummerSlam contract. After defeating Baron Corbin on this week’s SmackDown, he noted in a promo that he has a bone to pick over what happened last week.
Balor also said he still wants to challenge Reigns for the Universal Title and to do so, he’s willing to go through Cena, teasing a matchup. Fans chanted for Cena throughout that show-closing segment but Cena was a no-show. But he did appear in the dark match to defeat Roman Reigns and the Usos in a six-man tag team bout.
The main show, on the other hand, ended with Reigns and SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos standing tall over Balor following a brutal triple-team attack. So there have to be some major fallouts, this week from the bygones.

WWE Smackdown Preview (13/08/21): Edge vs. Seth Rollins
WWE Hall of Famer Edge vs. Seth Rollins has officially been announced for SummerSlam 2021. After weeks of tensions between the two, it was Edge to throw some harsh words to his adversary and thereby challenge him to a match that everyone was anticipating.
Seth Rollins never appeared, live-in-person on the show but he did appear, live via satellite, and taunted Edge from the big screen before accepting the challenge. WWE is currently promoting that both the superstars will be present at Tulsa, this week on SmackDown to continue the beef and things could certainly go physical if these two come face-to-face.
The SmackDown Women’s Title match is also official for WWE SummerSlam as Sasha Banks will challenge Bianca Belair for the strap at the PPV event. This will mark Banks’ rematch from WrestleMania 37 Night One, and also her first singles m match since dropping the strap to Belair that night.
Last week, Banks came to the ring to explain why she returned and turned on Belair for stealing the spotlight from her. Now she wants Belair to pay after watching from home how she disrespected her each week and wasn’t grateful for what she had done to her.
A fighting champion like Belair didn’t take much time to accept the SummerSlam challenge and she also defeated Zelina Vega in a Champion Contender’s match to send a stern warning to the challenger. How will these two continue their ongoing feud? We’ll find out on the second last episode of SmackDown prior to SummerSlam 2021.
