WWE Smackdown Results (09/10/20): Draft 2020 Night I Results; Banks-Bayley
Stephanie McMahon kicked off SmackDown presiding things for the Draft as she informed the first set of picks. While Raw chose Drew McIntyre, Asuka, and The Hurt Business, SmackDown chose Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins.
Falls Count Anywhere Match between Big E and Sheamus was the first match of the night where the fight continued at the backstage area. Sheamus missed a Brogue Kick and hit a car’s trunk lids, instead. E hit a Powerbomb on Sheamus on the car’s windshield and then drive him through a table via Big Ending for the win.
Jey Uso waited inside the ring for Roman Reigns to come out who appeared through a video message on the tron. He informed that there will be an “I Quit” match inside the Cell for the first time when they compete for the Universal Title, next time. There will be consequences, as well.
Stephanie McMahon announced the next set of Draft picks where Raw selected AJ Styles, Naomi, and Women’s Tag Team Champions Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax. For SmackDown, they chose Bianca Belair and Sasha Banks.
Jeff Hardy and Matt Riddle vs. John Morrison and The Miz was the next match on SmackDown where Morrison tried to block a German Suplex from Riddle. Hardy hit a Twist of Fate on Morrison. Miz took out Hardy but received a knee from Riddle who finished the match hitting the Bro Derek maneuver. After the match, Lars Sullivan appeared and destroyed all the match participants to stand tall.
In the third set of Draft picks, Raw chose Ricochet, Mandy Rose, The Miz, and John Morrison whereas SmackDown took Jey Uso, Rey, and Dominik Mysterio.
SmackDown Women’s Title Match went down between Sasha Banks and Bayley. Banks had the Bank Statement locked in but Bayley somehow went outside the ring. She suddenly attacked Banks with a steel chair to disqualify the match. An irate Banks then sent Bayley face-first into the chair and thrashed it onto Bayley’s back for several times, before leaving.
Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods returned during the Draft to challenge Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura for the SmackDown Tag Team Championships. Kofi neutralized Cesaro with a Trouble in Paradise. Nakamura missed a reverse exploder suplex and digested another Trouble in Paradise from Kofi. Woods got the tag and hit the flying elbow on Nakamura for the pin to win the tag titles.
After the match, it was announced that Kofi and Woods will move to Raw while E will stay on SmackDown. Dana Brooke and Angel Garza were picked by Raw while SmackDown chose Otis to stay.
The Fiend vs Kevin Owens was the main event of this week’s SmackDown where Owens delivered two Pop-up Powerbombs on the announce table but The Fiend was right back on his feet. The Fiend went for the Mandible Claw but ate a Stunner from Owens. The Fiend then got up and put down Owens with an Uranage. He picked the pinfall win through the Mandible Claw. As the match was over, Alexa Bliss joined The Fiend inside the ring as the two stared each other down to end the show.
