Being the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion, Roman Reigns recently received a new championship belt. He’s not the only one to have received a new belt since numerous other top champions have received such newly designer and named belts on Raw and SmackDown. However, when it comes to the undisputed champion, things could be handled differently.
Seth Rollins was presented with a new World Heavyweight Championship belt in April which started the spree of introducing these new belts. Rhea Ripley traded the SmackDown Women’s Title for the new WWE Women’s World Championship before which Asuka became the WWE Women’s Champion in the trade of the Raw Women’s Title. There is a reason for those changes.

Triple H wanted new championships on WWE roster
According to a report by Justin Barrasso of Sports Illustrated, Triple H wanted to refresh all the titles and give them a new look, which led to the introduction of so many new belts at a time. Even a new set of women’s tag titles are also expected when it will be unified with the NXT tag titles. Meanwhile, on SmackDown, Roman Reigns could be the only one to be carrying three belts at a time.
Over the past year or so, Paul Heyman was seen holding both the WWE and Universal Title belts on his shoulders on behalf of the champion. Now that an undisputed belt replaced the dual belts, there has been speculation about whether Heyman will continue to carry both titles while his Tribal Chief will have the new belt on his shoulder.

WWE Officials want Roman Reigns to carry three championships?
This notion has reportedly been a topic of discussion among WWE Officials since Roman Reigns’ titles hold more significance in terms of lineage. Both the WWE and Universal Titles have been the top titles with incredible history and it appears, the WWE is thinking twice before fully retiring these. Besides carrying so many belts will also differentiate the Head of the Table from the other champions in an easy way.
During the presentation of Reigns’ new belt on SmackDown, Paul Heyman was seen carrying both the WWE and Universal Title belts on his shoulders. Sources suggest that there have been discussions about Heyman continuing to carry both titles while Reigns carries the new one.
The WWE Championship was always considered to be the most prestigious belt in sports entertainment carried by legends such as Steve Austin, Pedro Morales, Bret Hart, and others. Barrasso emphasized the historical significance of this belt and the Universal title belt and no matter whether these continue to be on TV or not, the lineage will be transferred onto Roman Reigns’ new title.
