In the main event of last week’s episode of WWE Smackdown, Solo Sikoa defeated AJ Styles in a rare match in a controversial manner. The match finish occurred after Jimmy Uso interfered in the contest and pushed the former WWE Champion as he was going for the Phenomenal Forearm on Solo. After a bad landing, Solo easily pinned him for the win.

Once the match was over, Jimmy further attacked Styles with a superkick followed by the Uso Splash off the top ropes. The shocker happened in the final segment of WWE Smackdown which further hinted that Jimmy was willing to have a possible reunion with Roman Reigns, Solo Sikoa, and Paul Heyman. Also, WWE could have seemingly dropped hints about the next challenger for the Tribal Chief.

WWE Smackdown: Roman Reigns vs. AJ Styles could be the next championship feud

While it’s unlikely that this kind of match finish was done to stretch the feud between Styles and Solo or Jimmy Uso, it could very well be possible that Styles would be coming back to the championship picture, after a long time. Back during the Draft 2023 edition in April, he returned to WWE Smackdown and since then a feud with the undisputed WWE universal champion is reportedly in the pipeline.

If Styles vs. Reigns has to happen then the program will have a slow build, for the time being due to Reigns’ absence from WWE TV. The last time we saw him was at the post-Summerslam episode of WWE Smackdown where Jey Uso offered his brother Jimmy Uso a chance to explain his betrayal actions toward him by costing the Undisputed WWE Universal Championship Match.

Jimmy’s explanations weren’t enough which led Reigns and Sikoa to berate Jey as the latter laid them both out with superkicks before calling Jimmy back down to the ring. The Uso twins were seemingly going for a hug before Jey superkick-ed Jimmy and announced that he was leaving the WWE.

A match between Jimmy and Jey Uso is seemingly reserved for next year’s Wrestlemania if and when the latter eventually returns on WWE Smackdown. Meanwhile, Roman Reigns isn’t advertised to appear at FastLane in October and at Survivor Series in November. So, it’s easy to assume that he’s not returning to TV, anytime soon.
