After a long wait of more than a year, Roman Reigns’ Undisputed WWE Universal Championship has finally been unified. The champion will now be carrying only one belt rather than having two belts around his shoulder. On the June 2 episode of SmackDown which was the post-Night of Champions episode, WWE’s Tribal Chief was presented with a new belt by Triple H, WWE’s Chief Content Officer.
Heading into this week’s Smackdown, Roman Reigns was announced to be part of this festive episode as WWE planned a celebration for him crossing the 1,000-day landmark as the Universal Champion. The occasion was commemorated with the introduction of a brand-new championship belt.

Roman Reigns won the Universal Title back in 2020 summer
Roman Reigns originally hit his 1,000th-day landmark as the reigning Universal Champion this past Saturday, May 27 on the day of the Night of Champions PLE in Saudi Arabia. His championship run began with this belt in 2020 at the Payback premium live event when he defeated The Fiend Bray Wyatt and Braun Strowman in a Triple Threat Match.
After running roughshod with that title for over two years, Roman Reigns then picked up the WWE Championship from Brock Lesnar at Wrestlemania 38 to be known as the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion. The two belts were treated as separate belts until the introduction of a new World Heavyweight Championship belt on Raw, last month.
Seth Rollins won that title at Night of Champions by defeating AJ Styles in a tournament finale. On that PLE, Roman Reigns came close to holding four more title belts as he and Solo Sikoa challenged Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn for the WWE Undisputed Tag Team Championship. However, Jimmy Uso turned on Reigns and cost his brothers, the titles.
