Heading into this week’s episode of WWE Smackdown, the big announcement came where Roman Reigns was booked for his next Undisputed WWE Universal Championship defense against the up-and-rising star LA Knight. That match will go down at the Saudi Arabia event Crown Jewel and the two superstars will eventually put their signs on the match contract, next week.
While Roman Reigns missed the latest episode of WWE SmackDown this week, he was confirmed to appear next week for a contract signing segment. LA Knight expressed his confidence about facing the Head of the Table at Crown Jewel and the officially announced segment is likely to formalize their first-ever one-on-one showdown in the WWE. That episode will air on FS1 for a one-off week, which happened a few times each year since WWE started airing the show on FOX.

Meanwhile, this week’s WWE Smackdown was started with a segment featuring LA Knight and Paul Heyman. Heyman had something to address, prompting LA to come out and confront him. Despite the “YEAH” chants from the crowd, The Special Counsel wasn’t ready to appreciate it, and LA rather shut him up in a big way. Subsequently, he also delivered a message to Roman Reigns through Heyman to set up the big confrontation for next week.
After returning from his summer 2023 hiatus on WWE Smackdown, Roman Reigns missed this week’s episode. But he will be back, next week which will have dual tapings onboard for WWE’s visit to Saudi Arabia for Crown Jewel, the week after. Meanwhile, the United States Champion has also been booked for action for the October 27 episode.

Now with Santos Escobar backing him up, the Master of 619 will compete against The Profits in a tag team match on WWE Smackdown, next week. Rey might have to deal with Logan Paul as well since the two have been booked to compete for the US Title at Crown Jewel.
