The slow build for The Bloodline implosion continued through this week’s WWE Smackdown where Jey Uso wanted to become the new Tribal Chief instead of Roman Reigns. Jey was already in the spotlight heading into the episode as he had to make a tough decision on the show to pick a side between Roman and Jey’s own brother, Jimmy Uso.
WWE Smackdown June 9 episode kicked off with Solo Sikoa and Paul Heyman. Heyman was doing the introduction for Solo when Jey Uso interrupted. Jey called out Solo for attacking his older brother Jimmy, last week with the Samoan Spike. Heyman then stated that this is not Solo’s fault but that was Jimmy Uso’s fault.

Heyman then informed that Roman Reigns always wanted to groom Jey Uso for the next Tribal Chief spot. Having known that from day one, Jimmy wasn’t liking this idea and that he just wanted to stir things up. Heyman then said that The Usos no longer exist, but Jey was handed a title match opportunity by Roman Reigns on WWE Smackdown.
Later the night, Jey did have the opportunity to challenge Austin Theory for the United States Championship in the main event of WWE Smackdown. Per Heyman that was Jey’s road to becoming the World Heavyweight Champion and he also stated, “When the time is right, Jey Uso, you will become The Tribal Chief.”
WWE Smackdown: Jimmy Uso costs Jey Uso his title match
As seen in the final segment of WWE Smackdown, Pretty Deadly interfered in the title match as they attacked Jey. This led to Jimmy Uso making the save. Solo Sikoa then interfered and attacked Jimmy, again. Jimmy then accidentally super-kicked Jey, which allowed Theory to retain his US Title against Jey.
Obviously, Jey wasn’t happy with how things have gone down and so he pushed Jimmy away. Jey had a staredown with Paul Heyman and Solo before leaving the show.
As the turbulence continues on WWE Smackdown, Roman Reigns will return to the show, next week. Nothing regarding his involvement on the show has been announced but the reports heading into Money in the Bank suggest that Roman is still scheduled to team up with Solo Sikoa against The Usos on that upcoming PLE night.
