Roman Reigns has already been advertised in local outlets to compete in a non-title battle on this week’s Smackdown, as reported earlier. Now WWE has confirmed the matchup and made it a gimmick-based one to be the headliner of the show set from the Ford Arena in Evansville, Indiana.
As per the confirmations prior to this week’s Raw, a Battle for the Rule of SmackDown has been announced for this coming Friday night. The non-title bout will see King Xavier Woods go into a battle against WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. The winner will be able to run the roost to run the blue brand.
Roman Reigns Wrestled After This Week’s WWE Smackdown
This is an interesting battle since there’s already a Head of the Table is present on the show while we now have a new King on Smackdown in Xavier Woods. He defeated Finn Balor at Crown Jewel 2021 in the finale of the King of the Ring 2021 tournament and thereby earned the right to be called a king.
Roman Reigns already attacked Woods on Smackdown
Over on last Friday’s SmackDown, Xavier Woods defeated SmackDown Tag Team Champion Jimmy Uso in the main event match. Per the stipulation of the match, Uso had to bend his knee to Woods, the new king of the show. But Roman Reigns interrupted that post-match angle with an attack on Woods which only amplified with the help of The Usos. The Bloodline ended up triple-teaming on King Xavier Woods and Sir Kofi Kingston, laying waste to them.
Following the assault, Roman Reigns stood tall over Woods and sent a warning to Woods, “If you show up next week, I’ll show you what a real king looks like.” Then via social media, Woods issued a response to Reigns and accepted the challenge for this Friday night’s show that takes place at the Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia.
At this point, Roman Reigns is expected to compete in a champion vs. champion match at Survivor Series 2021 against Big E. King Xavier will also be a part of the PPV when he participates in the traditional tag team match elimination match from the blue brand against Team Raw. The team from Smackdown comprises Woods, Jeff Hardy, Drew McIntyre, Sami Zayn, and Happy Baron Corbin.
