Coming off the MMA circuit to the WWE, Ronda Rousey was the biggest star power that WWE could have expected to have on the roster in 2018. The Baddest Woman on the Planet made her in–ring debut at WrestleMania 34 in a mixed tag team match and within a few months she went on to become a Raw Women’s Champion and as they say, the rest was history.
Ronda Rousey has since become a three-time women’s champion who also was the longest-reigning Raw Women’s Champion before Becky Lynch broke his record. That same protected status of hers is no more intact on the WWE programming and she might be considering stepping away from the wrestling ring. If reports are to be believed then she is about to land a huge movie role.
Wrestlemania 39: WWE Has Fresh Title Match Booked For Ronda Rousey
According to Giant Freakin Robot, Ronda Rousey is in talks with Marvel Cinematic Universe to play Thundra in the upcoming “Captain America: New World Order” movie. This superhuman Thundra is a character owned by Marvel Comics. It debuted via Marvel Comics way back in 1972. With only a few details available about the film, it’s yet to be known how this character will fit into things.
WWE Smackdown Superstar Confirms She Doesn’t Like Ronda Rousey Anymore
Ronda Rousey’s character to have connections with The Hulk
As per the source, Thaddeus Ross (Harrison Ford) and Dr. Samuel Sterns, aka The Leader (Tim Blake Nelson) are confirmed for New World Order and hence the film could be considered as an unofficial Incredible Hulk spinoff. The character to be played by Ronda Rousey doesn’t have any particularly strong connections to Captain America but rather she possesses a pretty strong link to the Hulk. There should also be some connections with the Multiverse concept of the MCU.
Ronda Rousey is no stranger in Hollywood as she made her debut with “The Expendables 3” in 2014. She also appeared in the blockbuster “Furious 7” movie in 2015. In addition, Ronda was seen in string roles in movies like Mile 22 and Entourage. With her transitioning into a part-timer’s role, the expectation is Hollywood could be her permanent address.
In the WWE, Ronda Rousey is helmed as a former RAW and SmackDown Women’s Champion, as well as the winner of the 2022 Women’s Royal Rumble. Sooner, we expect her to call the women’s tag team champion with Shayna Baszler as reports call for her to go after the tag titles, currently held by Dakota Kai and IYO SKY at Wrestlemania 39.
