It’s been a long time since John Cena has made regular appearances on WWE Smackdown. Two years ago, that happened in the summer to culminate in a mega match against Roman Reigns at Summerslam after which he headed back to Hollywood for filming purposes. Now, in 2023, a writers’ strike has kept Hollywood in a halt and thus allowed the former WWE franchise player to be back in his home.

Starting with this week, John Cena will heavily feature on WWE Smackdown, and essentially be a regular member on the roster for the time being. WWE has him booked on the blue brand for almost two months which also makes us believe that he will compete in at least one pay-per-view match, down the road. Meanwhile, the question is what he would be up to during his first appearance for the much-hyped return.

WWE has already paid homage to the late great but it appears that the tributes around him will not stop any time soon,

There’s no update on what kind of storyline involvement John Cena will be going through during this appearance. But already WWE Smackdown Superstar Grayson Waller took shots at him to signal a feud. This comes after Waller was attitude-adjusted by the 16-time world champion at Money in the Bank in the United Kingdom.

Meanwhile, John Cena’s first match since WrestleMania 39 will see him teaming with World Heavyweight Champion Seth ‘Freakin’ Rollins. The news was broken by the official WWE India Instagram account, which announced that the dream team’s former champions will face Imperium’s Giovanni Vinci and Ludwig Kaiser in the main event of the Superstar Spectacle waiting for later this month.
