WWE Smackdown was taped this week on Tuesday from Toledo, Ohio. The reigning Lunatic WWE champion Dean Ambrose kicked off the show. He joins the commentary team to be the guest as Seth Rollins competed in a match against Jey Uso. It’s an indication for the World Heavyweight Championship to be brought back to the mix for Smackdown as Dean Ambrose is now being called as the WWE champion and not the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.
Seth Rollins def. Jey Uso
It was an odd match to provide the contender for Dean’s championship with a win. The Lunatic tried to create some distraction with the microphone in hand but Seth Rollins pedigreed his way for the victory. It’s interesting that these two has still managed to keep the animosity between them since the Shield broke up three years ago.
Zack Ryder def. Sheamus
Ryder won the match with an elbow drop. Afterwards, he challenged Rusev to a United States championship match but the champion ignored to have one on WWE Smackdown. It’s hard to believe what a veteran like Sheamus is up to. He was the champion at the end of last year and now being ended up losing to guys like Crews and Ryder. Will he be continued to be the jobber?
Becky Lynch was scheduled for a match on Smackdown but got cut as Natalya headed for a blind-sided attack. Becky ended being locked into the Sharpshooter.
Xavier Woods gave a backstage interview where he said despite all the fears they will go to the Wyatt family compound as invited. Enzo and Cass gave an interview about how they will even the odd for John Cena at the Battleground pay-per-view only to get hitched by The Club.
AJ Styles def. Enzo Amore
As a result of the confrontation, Styles met Enzo inside the ring creating a solid match up. Styles picked up the win via a Styles Clash. This a fresh air with the ongoing feud between Cena and the Club. Enzo’s mic skills will do the magic for them.
A backstage segment shows Kevin Owens took away the precious scarf of Chris Jericho. It’s Owens’s credit that he makes every segment involving him worth a watch.
The Miz def. Kalisto
As a result of the food fight on Raw, the Intercontinental champion got his revenge on Kalisto when the two met in the ring. Miz connected with the skull crushing finale for the win.
Sami Zayn def. Chris Jericho
Unfortunately, for Jericho, he is now being turned to a jobber role and rightfully so. First, he was given the task of putting over Dean Ambrose and now it would be Sami and Owens. Owens was present at commentary and a slight distraction from him handed a roll-up victory for Sami. Jericho hit the Codebreaker to Sami after the match which Owens followed with a pop up powerbomb to end WWE Smackdown.
