During the post-SummerSlam episode of WWE SmackDown, Shayna Baszler defeated Raquel Rodriguez, Natalya, Xia Li, Aliyah, Shotzi, and Sonya Deville in a Gauntlet Match. This made her the new number-one contender for the Smackdown Women’s Championship held by Liv Morgan.
Following the match, Baszler vs. Liv was confirmed over WWE Smackdown Women’s Title at Clash at the Castle Premium Live Event. The champion herself was sitting at ringside for the match before which she was interviewed by Kayla Braxton.
Morgan talked about retaining her title against Ronda Rousey at SummerSlam 2022 but fans in attendance for WWE Smackdown seemed to have not been on her side. We could hear boos from the audience for her, the same superstar who was reportedly so much over with the fans after her title win at Money in the Bank.

Fans present at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena literally hijacked Morgan’s promo with “you tapped out” chants and the interviewer Kayla Braxton was unhappy with this. She took to Twitter after how things transpired on WWE Smackdown,
“For those wondering why I looked annoyed – I was disappointed with the disrespectful chants towards our SD Womens Champion. @YaOnlyLivvOnce is so deserving so hush it when she speaks!”
Morgan’s former ally cum enemy from WWE Raw, Rhea Ripley also reacted to the segment and advised her to join the Judgment Day,
Rhea Ripley was watching and tweeted out an interesting offer for Liv Morgan to consider.
“The @WWE Universe booing @YaOnlyLivvOnce… Fickle. Liv there’s still room if you decide to stop caring about everyone’s opinion. #JoinUs#TheJudgmentDay#WWESmackdown”

Liv Morgan retained WWE Smackdown Women’s Title at Summerslam
Liv Morgan appeared on this week’s WWE Smackdown following her successful title defense against Ronda Rousey, last Saturday night at SummerSlam. The match saw a controversial finish as Rousey locked Morgan in an arm bar and made her tap out.
At the same time, Morgan managed to roll Rousey into a pinning combination and the referee never saw the tap-out. Instead, he counted the pin on Rousey and declared Morgan to be the winner who came out of the match with title retention.
A furious Rousey would then attack Morgan as well as the match official to get suspended. So, she wasn’t there on WWE Smackdown. According to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Rousey’s absence would be a short one as she is set to compete in a match at Clash at the Castle.
