Tuesday Night Smackdown Live was hosted last night at the SAP Center in San Jose, California. We have seen a successful outing from WWE Smackdown last Sunday Night at No Mercy PPV. Since that night passed by, we have been waiting to find out a number of questions that was supposed to be answered on tonight’s episode of Smackdown.
AJ Styles retained his WWE World championship at the No Mercy PPV as he toppled both Cena and Ambrose’s combined challenges. Now that he is over with them, who is going to be his next opponent? Also, we reported that Cena and Ambrose both will go on to a hiatus post-No Mercy. So, it was interesting to see if they showed up for one last time before going off. There were a lot to answer in the Women’s division and Orton-Wyatt situation from the No Mercy PPV.
The championship picture is still not clear towards us since the next PPV for the blue brand, Survivor Series is still a long way to go. Meanwhile, AJ Styles was out to deliver a championship speech to the crowd. He was proud to introduce his opponent for the night which was supposed to be James Ellsworth. But, Dean Ambrose walked out, instead.
Daniel Bryan showed up in between and said that he would like to appoint Dean Ambrose as the special guest referee for the match. If Styles put his hands on him, he will be fined. So, without further due the match went underway.
AJ being the champion put on the Calf crusher when Ellsworth tapped out but Dean pretended to take a phone call and did not notice that. Ambrose continued with his vendetta against Styles during the whole match. Finally, he hit the Dirty Deeds on Styles and dragged Ellsworth on top of Styles to hand him the pinfall in the non-title bout at Smackdown.
