The bracket for WWE Women’s Tag team Tournament to crown the new WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions was unveiled during this week’s episode of Monday Night Raw. One of the big surprises among the teams in the field was an unprecedented team from the NXT roster who will be in action during next week’s Smackdown. But by then, we will get to know three semifinalists of the tourney.
As seen on this week’s Smackdown, the Women’s Tag Team Tournament to crown new titleholders continued. Raquel Rodriguez and Aliyah defeated Shotzi and Xia Li in the opening match to advance to the semifinals of the tourney. Raquel was the one to get the pinfall win for her team as she planted Li with the Texana Bomb for the three counts.

They’ll now face the winner of the Sonya Deville & Natalya vs. NXT’s Nikkita Lyons & Zoey Stark, a match that will continue the Women’s Tag Team Tournament, next week on Smackdown. It should be noted that Stark is also chasing the NXT Women’s Championship held by Mandy Rose. The two are currently scheduled to lock horns over the title during this week’s Heatwave special, this Tuesday night.

Stark and Nikkita are the x-factors in the Women’s Tag Team Tournament
Stark had just returned to action from a knee injury as she was a surprise entrance in an NXT Women’s Championship Number-one Contender Battle Royal on the July 19 episode of NXT. She eventually won the whole thing to secure her title match against the champion Mandy Rose during the HeatWave special on Tuesday, August 16.
With Nikkita Lyons being touted as one of the future superstars of the WWE Women’s division, the duo of Stark and Nikkita are being touted to be the underdogs of the Women’s Tag Team Tournament. Next week, they compete for the first time on the roster against veteran Natalya and the super heel in Deville and the duo is already on a rant about becoming the new champions in due course.
The first match of the Women’s Tag Team Tournament was announced for this past Monday night’s episode of Raw where the newest arrivals on WWE’s main roster, Dakota Kai and IYO SKY defeated the team of 24/7 Champion Dana Brooke and Tamina to advance to the semifinal. This coming Monday Night, Alexa Bliss and Asuka will compete against long-time tandem Doudrop and Nikki A.S.H. for another next semi-final spot.
