The Road to Wrestlemania 39 continued through this week’s WWE Smackdown as it brought yet another packed episode. The fans in attendance at the Capital One Arena in Washington, DC got to experience Roman Reigns’ return to the blue brand after Elimination Chamber. They also got to experience the first-time face-off between Roman and Cody Rhodes before their Wrestlemania encounter.
That confrontation segment wasn’t the only duty for Cody on WWE Smackdown as he was also featured in a match once the main show was over. As posted on social media by the in-attendance fans for the latest blue brand show, Cody competed against Finn Balor in a singles match.

The top Raw Superstar who’s been undefeated since returning to the WWE, last year continued with his winning streak by pinning the Judgment Day member right in the middle of the ring and thereby sending the fans home in a happy state. Before they could leave the ring, Cody also had the mic to note that the Capital One Arena was special to him.

The opening segment of this week’s WWE SmackDown saw The American Nightmare standing face-to-face with the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns to exchange heated promos to make things personal. With a mega WrestleMania bout in store within a month they avoided a fight and shook hands. But before leaving Cody made it clear that he hopes to leave WrestleMania 39 as the new Undisputed WWE Universal Champion.
More dark matches took place on WWE Smackdown
Cody vs. Balor wasn’t the only dark match of this week’s WWE Smackdown. Before the main show began, the reigning blue brand Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair put her title on the line against Sonya Deville, continuing a feud from this past January. Flair easily won the match to retain.
A report from Ringside News also informed that a match between The Brawling Brutes and Hit Row also entertained the fans in attendance in a big way where The Brawling Brutes emerged as the winners. It was said to be an intense battle that kept the fans on the edge of their as both teams put on an impressive display of athleticism. In the end, it was the Brutes who stood tall.
