AJ Styles vs. Samoa Joe is a phenomenal bout for the WWE fans. It finally became reality at the 31st annual Summerslam event. We never even imagined to see in the biggest pro-wrestling promotion. Especially, Samoa Joe was the target for the critics. They told him that he was never going to make it into the WWE ever.
Well, he proved everyone wrong by becoming a dominant NXT champion earlier in his career. This solidified his WWE run for the future. Here he was last night at Summerslam challenging AJ Styles for the WWE Championship. This is the first time that he was competing for the most coveted prize in all of the sports entertainment.
Samoa Joe took the smartest strategy to gain the upper-hand against AJ Styles. He knew how strong the current champion is. He has already surpassed JBL’s record 281-day reign for being the longest reigning WWE Champion on Smackdown history. So playing mind-games was the best way to capitalize on him prior to the match.
We have seen Samoa Joe doing the same for the past few weeks mentioning his family. This made AJ Styles frustrated before going into Summerslam. His family was present at the ringside for this match which turned out to be an integral part of this match. Samoa Joe interrupted announcer’s introduction for AJ Styles.
He pointed out Wendy Styles before the WWE Championship match at Summerslam kicked off. AJ Styles dodged a big kick from his opponent at the very beginning. Both men tried to capitalize with headlocks as the Brooklyn crowd broke into TNA chants. Samoa Joe gained the upper-hand with some furious strikes and a leg-kick.

Samoa Joe gave a snap powerslam to his opponent. But AJ Styles came back with an unbelievable Styles Clash on the mat. But Joe kicked out at two to continue the match. A Pele Kick put him down moments away. Samoa Joe came back with a huge kick. He then sent the champion into the steel steps.
The heel contender took a wise strategy by having the mic at Summerslam. He continued to talk trash about AJ Styles and his family. This made the champ go irate as he attacked Samoa Joe outside the ring.
He hit Joe with the steel chair to make the match disqualified. Officials ran down to stop the chaos at Summerslam. Styles headed to the back after hugging his wife and daughter sitting at ringside.
