Both the tag team championships from WWE Raw and Smackdown were on the line at Summerslam. B-Team was the WWE Raw tag team championships heading into the show. They have proven to have a lackluster run with the gold around their waist. So we expected this to end as early as possible. There are more deserving champions on Raw than them.

Giving an opportunity to The Revival at Summerslam was a good option from a creative perspective. They have been waiting to get a shot to the tag team titles. Almost one and a half years passed by since they arrived on the scene in 2017. It’s hard to believe that competed in a PPV championship match for the first time.

We thought it was going to be the championship-crowning moment for them which was not the case at Summerslam. The Revival started on a high note on this WWE Raw tag team championship match. They delivered a Shatter Machine on Curtis Axel to take full control of the match.

Axel came back to life after Dash and Dawson beat the hell out of Dallas. Axel received the hot tag only to get inserted into a Dawson Cradle. But Dallas broke it allowing Axel to reverse the move. This allowed Axel to reverse the counter to retain the WWE Raw tag team championship.

Over on Smackdown Live, The Bludgeon Brothers received their toughest championship challenge to date. They had a dominant run with the tag team titles ever since Wrestlemania. No tag teams on the Smackdown locker room was safe from them during their championship run.

The New Day managed to pick up a bit momentum just before Summerslam. They had consecutive wins to confirm the title opportunity at the PPV. It was a desperate try for them to get back their glorious days. But they failed to get the titles too.

Xavier Woods received a tag at the end of this match. Big E slammed harper on the knees of Woods. Woods went up for a top rope fly but Harper moved out of the ring. But Woods connected with a flying elbow on Harper over the floor.

Big E took Harper inside the ring and tried to give him a Big Ending. But Harper blocked it and went outside to pick up the Mallet. He hit Woods with it to disqualify the Smackdown tag team championship match. So the Bludgeon Brother retained via disqualification at Summerslam.
