Asuka will be competing in two separate matches at Summerslam as she has now earned two title matches at the pay-per-view event.
Last night on Smackdown, a Triple Brand Battle Royal on SmackDown went down which witness Asuka to appear as a surprise entrant. She ended up eliminating Shayna Baszler to pick up the win. Thus, she also became the new number-one contender to WWE Women’s Tag Team Champion Bayley for her SmackDown Women’s Title as the two will now lock horns over the belt at Summerslam.
Summerslam: Smackdown Women’s Title & Hair Vs Hair Match Set
Smackdown Battle Royal featured Asuka, Baszler, Tamina Snuka, Tegan Nox, Shotzi Blackheart, Ruby Riott, Liv Morgan, Bianca Belair, Peyton Royce, Billie Kay, Naomi, Lacey Evans, Dana Brooke, and Nikki Cross as the opponents. Baszler once sent Asuka outside the ring but she landed on Banks and Bayley and bounced back into the ring to eliminate Baszler and become the winner.
Asuka previously defeated Bayley on RAW and as per the stipulation put by Stephanie McMahon, she earned a SummerSlam title shot against Sasha Banks for the RAW Women’s Title.

We will also receive a Hair vs Hair match at Summerslam where someone might end up losing her hair by the end of the PPV. Tonight’s SmackDown on FOX episode saw Mandy Rose cut a backstage promo on Sonya Deville, who then laid down a challenge for a match under Hair vs. Hair stipulation. The challenge came in response after Deville attacked Rose two weeks ago and cut her hair. Rose debuted her new hairstyle, last week who is determined to get payback.
Sonya Deville accepted the challenge to make the match official at Summerslam that is scheduled to air, live on August 23. Recent reports claim that the event will take place at the Amway Center in Orlando, Florida, but that’s not been confirmed by WWE. Meanwhile, the updated Summerslam card is as follows,
