This will be the rematch for Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio after dropping the straps to Jimmy Uso and Jey Uso at the Money In the Bank pay-per-view on July 18. The Mysterios retained the titles over The Usos twice on the June 4 SmackDown episode, but then they dropped the belts at Money In The Bank Kick-off pre-show on July 16.

Last week, Rey Mysterio defeated Jey Uso in a singles contest via assistance from Dominik that helped him to secure the title rematch in time for the title match. With animosity running high between the two teams, this matchup was highly anticipated, anyway. This one appears to be the second match announced from the blue brand for the PPV event.

WWE Summerslam 2021: New Title Match Officially Announced 2

As reported earlier, officials are worried that WWE SummerSlam 2021 might get canceled due to the COVID-19 situation. The belief is that mandates against large gatherings will result in the PPV not taking place at the Allegiant stadium. While plans haven’t changed yet, WWE does believe that they might have to move back to ThunderDome scenario within just four weeks of time.

Bodyslam.net noted the following on the situation,
“SummerSlam can/will be cancelled. Additionally, the thought is that the company fully expects that they will not be on the road in 4 weeks time.”
