One of the most shocking moments from WWE Money In The Bank 2022 premium live event was Ronda Rousey losing the SmackDown Women’s Championship to Liv Morgan. In her original title defense, she made Natalya tap out to retain the title but then Liv Morgan ran down with her Money In The Bank contract that she had just won during the opening MITB Ladder Match.
Eventually, the WWE Raw roster member proceeded to successfully cash in the contract on Ronda Rousey taking advantage of her hurt leg and pinning her. With that, the former UFC star is now sitting without her coveted WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship following Money in the Bank. The question remains what could be next in store for her. It appears that a big match would be reserved for her no matter how or what had happened at the bygone premium live event.

A new report from F4WOnline indicates that Ronda Rousey would start from scratch to get back her title and probably the prestige in her title reign. She will reportedly be continuing the feud over the SmackDown Women’s Championship against the new champion, Liv Morgan. This will carry into SummerSlam 2022 and probably produce a singles encounter between the two of them.

With both the champion and challengers being babyface superstars, it will be interesting to see how WWE plans to present the rivalry going forward, starting from this week’s Smackdown. Following the title change, Ronda Rousey passed on the title to Liv and also hugged her inside the squared circle which was a kind gesture.
But the friendly term may be over, soon as she starts chasing the title.
Dave Meltzer also added in his report that is personally surprised by WWE’s booking at Money In The Bank since “almost everybody figured it would be Charlotte Flair and Ronda Rousey at SummerSlam and it’s not”. Perhaps, they don’t want another rematch from the Show of Shows to be on the SummerSlam card after Brock Lesnar vs. Roman Reigns was confirmed.
Charlotte Flair has been absent from WWE television ever since dropping the SmackDown Women’s Championship in an “I Quit” match to Ronda Rousey at WrestleMania Backlash on May 8, 2022. There’s no concrete update on the superstar’s return to WWE television. But the SmackDown taping scheduled for Friday, August 12 at The PNC Arena in Raleigh, North Carolina has her listed for an appearance that could be an indication that her return is approaching closer.
