ToggleWhile any single match for Summerslam 2023 is yet to be officially confirmed, WWE has internally started planning those. Reflections have also been received around those on WWE Raw and Smackdown programming and we hope those will be confirmed starting from this week onward.
One of those matches is likely to be contested for the WWE Women’s World Championship held by Rhea Ripley. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reported in the latest that Rhea Ripley vs. Raquel Rodriguez is planned for Summerslam 2023. With two behemoths planned to collide in a title match capacity, this match could eventually turn out to be a banger.
“They’re not there yet [with the story], but that match was penciled in last week,” Meltzer said.

Raquel Rodriguez is reigning women’s tag champ on Raw
At present, Raquel Rodriguez is one-half of the WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions alongside Liv Morgan. Hence, booking Raquel in a singles title match capacity at Summerslam 2023 is interesting but then again Raquel was meant to be a force to be reckoned with in the singles title picture. Meanwhile, there’s no update on what WWE plans to do with the women’s tag titles.
Summerslam 2023: Ripley vs. Rodriguez hinted at last week’s Raw
Rhea Ripley won the WWE SmackDown Women’s Championship by defeating Charlotte Flair at Wrestlemania 39 Night Two. The title has since been rebranded into the Women’s World Championship. The champions have since defended the title twice on TV against Natalya Neidhart, apart from her ongoing work with Judgment Day.
Heading into Summerslam 2023, her latest title defense came against Natalya on the July 3 episode of WWE Raw. After the successful defense, Ripley started attacking The Queen of Harts in the ring until Unified WWE Women’s Tag Team Champions Raquel Rodriguez and Liv Morgan made the save for Nattie and teased the upcoming title match showdown. Rodriguez and Ripley engaged in a brief staredown before the latter retreated through the entrance ramp.
Apart from this matchup, Ringside News reports that Logan Paul vs. Ricochet is also going down at Summerslam 2023. The two are also set for a meet in the ring during this week’s Raw. Plus, Roman Reigns will be defending the Undisputed Universal Championship against Jey Uso while Cody Rhodes vs. Brock Lesnar will go down once again.
