Wrestlemania 39 is on the horizon as WWE is giving final touches to the storylines but they are also reportedly setting up a Summerslam 2023 matchup. After four long years of having competed in her final solo match at the same event, the legendary Trish Stratus is thinking of lacing up her boots, again and WWE has reportedly started planting seeds for her match from now onward.
According to the reports of Wrestling Observer Newsletter, a lot of twists and turns are expected to take place in the women’s tag team match storyline, out of which multiple matches could result in one of those could be in-store at Summerslam 2023.

WON has also noted that a ‘Stratus heel turn’ is planned, down the road to result in that match. Originally, it should have happened before Wrestlemania but things could have been postponed. Now, WRKD Wrestling has provided a follow-up on Twitter, saying that the hell-turn will happen to set up a match between Trish and Becky Lynch at Summerslam 2023,
“The long-term plan, as of this moment, is that Trish Stratus will turn heel and work a program with Becky Lynch through SummerSlam.”
Trish Stratus returning to solo action at Summerslam 2023?
If Summerslam 2023 does end up producing this mega match then it will be exactly after four years that the Quintessential WWE Diva will feature in a one-on-one matchup at the biggest event of the summer. Back in 2019 at the same event, Trish had her retirement match against Charlotte Flair in her hometown of Toronto, Ontario, Canada, four years ago.
But down the road, she admitted to coming out of this retirement if WWE could arrange mount-watering matches for her. This is the reason she must have returned on the February 27 episode of Raw where Lita and Becky Lynch defeated Dakota Kai and IYO SKY of Damage CTRL to win the Women’s Tag Team Championship after her interference.
Damage CTRL leader Bayley had been interfering in the title match so that her tag team partners could retain the gold. But in the closing moments, the WWE Hall of Famer came out to make the title change happen. At this point, the babyface trio is booked to face DAMAGE CTRL at Wrestlemania 39 but the equation is likely to change big-time before Summerslam 2023.
