With Summerslam 2023 approaching closer, it’s safe to say that Roman Reigns will be featuring in the main event scene for the third straight year. in a row. He dominated the WWE for over three years thanks to The Bloodline cohorts. Recent storylines saw the top faction getting ripped apart as The Usos aren’t on the same page with their Tribal Chief.

For months now, the mistreatments from Roman’s side made The Usos irate and they were bound to revolt. At Money in the Bank, The Usos defeated Undisputed WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns and Solo Sikoa in a tag team match also dubbed as The Bloodline Civil War. Now that it’s over, it appears that WWE has major plans for The Tribal Chief for Summerslam 2023.

The finish of the Money in the Bank main event was interesting which will help WWE to set up the marquee title match at Summerslam 2023. After a series of superkicks, double superkicks from both Jey and Jimmy Uso, it was Jey who finally pinned The Tribal Chief with a Frogsplash. This was Roman’s first pinfall loss in 1294 days since the TLC 2019 PPV to Baron Corbin.

Summerslam 2023: Roman Reigns vs. Jey Uso to be the main event?

According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, it was reported that Roman Reigns will be squaring off against Jey Uso at Summerslam 2023 which is pretty obvious after the perhaps greatest pinfall that he earned at Money in the Bank. So, from a booking perspective, Jey Uso should receive a monstrous booking from this point onward.

The report doesn’t fall in line with earlier rumors that Jimmy Uso was slated to face Roman Reigns at Summerslam 2023 over the undisputed title. This came after Jimmy turned on Roman at Night of Champions and initiated the turn-on from The Bloodline.

Jey Uso strong contender for Roman Reigns’ title

But Jey facing Roman makes much sense now that he became the first man to pin the latter in almost three years. Interestingly, the first person to ever pin Roman Reigns on the main roster was also Jey Uso back in 2013. Fast forward to 2020, Jey was also the first person to feud with Roman after his transition to the Tribal Chief persona.

Time will tell how Jey would be booked around Summerslam 2023 but his main event shtick will be intact at the PLE that takes place at the Detroit Ford Field in Detroit, Michigan.
