WWE Summerslam is coming up with its 2021 edition which wouldn’t be any less than Wrestlemania caliber by all means. The top titles from Raw and Smackdown will be on the line on the upcoming show which obviously includes title matches from the Women’s division. At this point, it’s safe to say that the female talents will be able to co-main-event the show just like they at Wrestlemanias in the past,
The norm wasn’t the same for the female wrestlers, even five or six years ago as they have to literally fight for a spot on WWE Summerslam or Wrestlemania card. There wasn’t always a surety that the Women’s Championships would be defended on these grandest stages. Old school Women’s and Divas Champions were thus rejected from seizing their opportunities.

Looking back at the history of WWE Summerslam, only 12 Women’s Title matches took place in the PPV event in the bygone 33 installments. 8 of those matches have taken place in the last four years meaning that only four champions got the chance to defend their belts at the Biggest Event of the Summer, prior to that. Plus, it wasn’t before 2011 that a sole female competitor put her title on the line on this show.
Out of these 12 title matches, 7 times the titles changed hands meaning that 58% of the time, WWE Summerslam crowned new champions. That being said, check out the bygone title matches in the history of this August PPV event.
