WWE Summerslam will celebrate its 31st anniversary on Sunday night at the Barclays Center. The match card is huge for the show including several title matches. All the titles from WWE Raw and Smackdown will be up for grabs for the contenders. In combined there will be nine championship matches.
The Universal title match featuring Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns should be the main event of Summerslam. Also, Ronda Rousey will be coming after the women’s title held by Alexa Bliss. The Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York will be the host of Summerslam for the fourth straight year.
WWE Network and Sony Ten 1 Network will broadcast Summerslam live from 5.30 AM onwards. Check out the all the matches to take place in the show with potential outcomes,
PRE-SHOW –
Cedric Alexander vs Drew Gulak (Cruiserweight Championship)
Drew Gulak is a veteran name on the 205 Live roster. He has been there as a strong heel since 2016. With Gallagher and Kendrick behind him, he is the strongest that we have ever seen. So Summerslam should be his moment where he becomes the new champion.
The B-Team vs. The Revival (WWE Raw tag team championship)
The B-Team is just not suitable enough to be the champions. Revival winning would bring prestige back to these titles. We expect the nightmare run of the B-Team to end as early as possible.
Rusev & Lana vs Andrade Cien Almas & Zelina Vega (Mixed tag team match)
Summerslam has retained the mixed tag team match tradition with this entertainer. Rusev and Lana have received much sympathy digesting a series of losses. It paved the way for them to pick up the win. Aiden English might turn out handy this time around.
MAIN SHOW –
Bludgeon Brothers (c) vs The New Day (Smackdown tag team championship)
The New Day has good chances of winning the tag titles. We have not seen them back in form in quite some time now. This could very well be to end the dominant run of the Bludgeons. The entertaining trio would continue the feud even after the win.
Dolph Ziggler (c) vs Seth Rollins (Intercontinental championship)
Chaos would break out during this Summerslam match ensuring Ziggler’s title retention. We can’t wipe out a potential heel-turn from Dean Ambrose, too. The audience will go nuts in this case. It will start a new feud between these two Shield members following the PPV.
Shinsuke Nakamura (c) vs. Jeff Hardy (U.S. championship)
WWE has not booked Randy Orton in a match just to interfere in this title match. He will continue to hunt down Jeff Hardy ensuring Nakamura retains the title. Hardy and Orton would go forward to have a match at Hell in a Cell.
Finn Balor vs Baron Corbin
This contest should be a bore-fest at Summerslam. The officials just want to keep the push going on for Corbin. So they inserted the match into the card. The Constable of WWE Raw is favourite to defeat Balor to continue his current push.
Alexa Bliss (c) vs Ronda Rousey (Raw women’s championship)
Ronda Rousey is the favourite to win the women’s championship at Summerslam.
However, Alexa could arrange shenanigans through Alicia Fox. It could allow her to retain over Rousey. If it happens, then the creative team might let Rousey win the title at all-women PPV named Evolution.
Carmella (c) vs Becky Lynch vs Charlotte Flair (SmackDown women’s championship)
Carmella showed no signs of rust when it comes to her heel antics. Both the challengers failed to match up to her mic works on Smackdown. It does hint that we should not expect a title change. If a change does happen, then Becky has the most chances to pick up the title.
Daniel Bryan vs The Miz
Summerslam will finally deliver the match we have been waiting for. Bryan vs Miz should be the show-stellar of the night by all the means. In the end, it should be the YES movement that prevails assuring a sweet redemption for Bryan.
Braun Strowman vs Kevin Owens (Money in the Bank contract match)
The next PPV is advertising a match between Roman Reigns and Kevin Owens inside Hell in a Cell. It does mean that there’s a chance for Owens to steal the MITB briefcase from Strowman. It would allow him to cash-in on a winning Reigns later the night at Summerslam.
AJ Styles (c) vs Samoa Joe (WWE championship)
The dream match between these two veterans is finally happening at Summerslam. Reports suggest these two will continue to feud for the next few months. So, the title might not change hands in the first match between them. Instead, AJ Styles will retain via controversy to set up the next match inside Hell in a Cell.
Brock Lesnar (c) vs Roman Reigns (Universal championship)
If Brock Lesnar continues to be a part of the WWE after Summerslam, then he will retain. It might sound disgraceful to the fans, but WWE might want to make Lesnar a two-sport champion in this case. Else Roman Reigns will finally be able to become champion for a short time. Either Strowman or Owens will cash in the MITB briefcase to walk out of Brooklyn as the new champion.
