The WWE Championship was hanging in the balance between AJ Styles and Samoa Joe. It was at Super Show Down when these two bitter rivals went back and forth for the prestigious prize in Sports Entertainment. This has been a slobberknocker of a rivalry on Smackdown Live in quite sometimes. There have been a lot of bad blood between each other.

Samoa Joe made it personal with AJ Styles from the very beginning of the feud. He started taking shots at AJ’s wife, Wendy Styles and their little daughter, Annie. In fact, they were present during their first match at Summerslam where things became nasty. Samoa Joe claimed to be the new daddy for Annie giving a disgusting example of meanness.
He continued to bring in the heat by involving Wendy and Annie on a weekly basis. Two weeks ago on Smackdown, Samoa Joe even tried to enter the house of AJ Styles. This pressed police charges against him as the GM wanted to fire him. But the champion wanted this match badly at Super Show Down. So Paige gave him the chance to beat the hell out of Samoa Joe.

AJ Styles looked intense while making his entrance to Super Show Down. He went right after Joe after the match started to make the situation intense. These two had a brawl before the champion started chasing down Joe outside the ring. Samoa Joe tried to throw him into the commentary table but he countered it with vicious chops to the chest.

Samoa Joe missed a shot and hit the outside mat hard with a thud. He got up on his feet and hit a nasty dive to AJ Styles. The contender now started to punish the champion with a combination of moves taunting the crowd. They gave a solid reaction to Joe who hit an Enziguiri but failed to get the pinfall win. Joe went frustrated which allowed AJ Styles to get back and hit him with a flurry of strikes. Samoa Joe went outside the ring and brought in a chair.

But AJ Styles hit a drop-kick on Samoa Joe with the chair onto the face. Samoa Joe brought out a chair but the champ slammed him through it. He also hurt himself in the process. But he pulled off a Phenomenal Forearm outside the ring. He went for the cover but Samoa Joe countered it with a Coquina Clutch. AJ Styles re-countered it to lock in the Calf Crusher. Joe tapped out handing over the win to AJ Styles. The Phenomenal One retained his championship again at Super Show Down.
