WWE has confirmed that Rusev has been injured during this week’s Main event taping from Phoenix, Arizona.
He was wrestling Neville when he went down during the bout. It looked like he injured his shoulder when he popped it out of place somehow in the match. An immediate check was made on him by the medical trainer present at ringside. Neville was declared the winner via medical decision.

This type of finish is quite odd, especially for a top heel in the roster like Rusev. That too, in a throwaway match on a minor TV taping show like Main Event which proves that the injury was quite legitimate.
As expected, Rusev went mad on the trainer, the referee and the timekeeper and chased them in between the crowd. He genuinely seemed frustrated. Though the chase looked over dramatic, which was a sign that it might have been all scripted.
WWE’s official statement is here:
Rusev sustained a proximal bicep tendon rupture during his match with Neville at the WWE Main Event tapings Tuesday night, WWE.com can confirm. The match was called due to the injury, and the former U.S. Champion’s recovery time is currently slated at three to four weeks.

Now if it takes him 3 or 4 weeks to recover his status in this year’s Survivor Series PPV is seriously in doubt. And after having a golden run till this year’s Wrestlemania, time is not in favour with him. He had injured himself earlier this year, then his fiancée Lana got injured and they ruined their own storyline by declaring it on TMZ and getting into WWE’s bad book thereby. And now he will be out of action again with this injury.
