Shane McMahon has been released by the WWE following the Royal Rumble related controversies. His alleged exit was reportedly similar to that of WWE releasing from their contract. The feeling is that he’s not coming back to the WWE, anytime soon. This has also started speculations about the prodigal son possibly making appearances in AEW.

This isn’t the first time that Shane McMahon is having a fall-out with his family and this might be the only positive thing about the situation. He first joined his father’s company in 1988 and worked in several roles including both behind-the-scenes and on-screen roles until up to 2009 when he decided to step away from the business.

He was back in 2016 but only to be an on-screen talent. The recent release of Shane McMahon led legendary wrestling commentator Jim Ross (via TalkSport) to think that he’s not the “heir apparent” to Vince McMahon’s organization while his sister Stephanie McMahon and her husband Paul “Triple H” Levesque would definitely be considered.

That being said, there’s a genuine feeling that Shane McMahon could be AEW-bound given that it’s the best option, nowadays for the superstars who are let go from the WWE. The company is well-aware of the fact. In an update to the situation, PWTorch is reporting that WWE Officials want to warn AEW President Tony Khan regarding signing Shane-O-Mac,

“People in WWE are letting me know that someone should warn Tony Khan what he’s in for if he brings Shane in, because the sense of entitlement, and I don’t know if ego is the right word, that Shane would bring along with him in a company that isn’t WWE would probably be amplified compared to how he was acting on Saturday, which was just basically out of control.”

WWE Officials were planning for Shane McMahon vs. Seth Rollins at WrestleMania 38 via Shane’s surprise Rumble return. The seeds for this match were supposed to be planted during the Men’s Royal Rumble. But Rollins wasn’t added to the match due to so many changes in the planning. Also, Shane picked up heat upon himself that eventually caused the release, soon after the Rumble.
