Shane McMahon made his big return to WWE programming during the 2022 edition of the Men’s Royal Rumble match. This wasn’t supposed to be a one-off thing as WWE is on their way to Wrestlemania 38. The part-time was rumored to enter a program that could lead to a big match at the April PPV. He was also rumored to be a part of the Elimination Chamber which won’t be the case, anymore.
An update from Ringside News stated that the younger McMahon has been “quietly let go” by the WWE. It was noted that WWE creative team members were told in a “semi-quiet way” that “there will be no more creative discussions about Shane McMahon” and that they have now “moved on to other creative discussions.”

The report added that WWE Chairman & CEO Vince McMahon had no choice but to take action against his own son since there’ve been a ton of heats starting with The Rumble. Shane has not been a WWE employee for some time and was “supposed to be involved in the XFL but then COVID-19 hit” and the league ended up in a bankruptcy situation. WWE then brought Shane McMahon back for another run starting with The Rumble, but the run is already over.

Shane McMahon’s Rumble entry wasn’t appreciated
“Vince had no choice. Shane created chaos, had everyone in an uproar, pi**ed off everyone in the Rumble, openly buried other producers, and was changing things that Vince wanted. Vince had no other choice but to send him home,” a WWE source said.
The report has mentioned that Vince is “quietly” using the term “let go” regarding this situation with Shane McMahon. The term “blackballed” has not been used but the word within WWE is that Shane was “pretty much ‘let go’” where we might not see him around for a long time.
Shane McMahon entered the 30-Man Royal Rumble Match at the 28th spot who also was the 28th elimination, tossed out by Lesnar after lasting 5 minutes and 38 seconds in. He picked up just one elimination in Kevin Owens. As noted above, WWE had planned for him at Elimination Chamber and WrestleMania 38, but those have already been scrapped.
