On-paper this lineup of Braun Strowman vs. Baron Corbin at WWE TLC might not seem strong. But WWE kept the stakes much higher for this one which could change the landscape of Monday Night Raw. If Strowman wins then he will get a Universal Championship match at Royal Rumble against Brock Lesnar. Or else, Baron Corbin become the permanent general manager of WWE Raw.
The acting general manager literally owned the show for the past several weeks. His ally with the heels made the unthinkable possible to keep Braun Strowman aside from the scene. Speculations suggested that the monster among men has not recuperated from the shattered elbow suffered at the hands of Baron Corbin. So we did not expect the injured superstar to be 100 percent fit even he shows up at WWE TLC.
This gave birth to a capacity where we could expect a shocking return to replace Braun Strowman. Rumors hinted that names like Kurt Angle or even Bray Wyatt might show up in this capacity to compete against Baron Corbin. Needless to say, WWE creative team has been able to keep the curiosity high for this WWE TLC match. The match itself turned out to be a hell of an entertainer with Strowman eventually returning at referee’s seven-count.
Braun Strowman did not even have to compete at WWE TLC thanks to the storyline buildups. Superstars from WWE Raw was already unhappy with the way Corbin was running things on the show. So names like Apollo Crews, Finn Balor, Bobby Roode, and Chad Gable surrounded the ring with chairs in hand. They did not hesitate to smash it on the back of the acting GM. It was completely legal as per the no-DQ rules of WWE TLC.
To make things even merrier for the fans, Kurt Angle returned at a time when Baron Corbin was trying to escape the show. He sought sweet revenge on the Lone Wolf delivering some chair shots, as well. The one-sided affair continued with Apollo hitting a frog splash. Balor hit a Coup De Grace where Kurt hit him with an Angle Slam.
The only thing left for Braun Strowman was to hit Corbin with a big boot and pin him for the three-count. With that, a pathetic reign of Baron Corbin as the authority figure came to an end at WWE TLC. Plus, the Universal Championship match at Royal Rumble is officials between Braun Strowman and Brock Lesnar.
