WWE Still Not Happy With CM Punk Appearing On WWE Backstage On FOX 1

WWE Backstage was promoted to be the first separate talk-show in a mainstream sports channel around the company’s weekly happenings.

FOX was hopeful that the show will draw decent viewers with the host Renee Young. The trustworthy face will also get several WWE Hall of Famers in the analyst panels, time to time.

After the initial failure, FOX even brought back CM Punk to draw more ratings which were also not a major success.

It was a desperate try from the officials to get more eyes on WWE Backstage which apparently had a failure.

The viewership has not been able to fulfill the satisfaction. This made the FOX as well as WWE officials unhappy with the situation.

This week’s episode of WWE Backstage on FS1 which was the first edition of the show featuring an advertised appearance from CM Punk drew 180,000 viewers. It was up from the previous week’s 100,000 viewers.

Punk was asked to enter Royal Rumble

The increment of 80,000 from last week’s viewership and 49,000 from their debut episode could not make the authority figure happy.

Brad Shepard revealed on Oh, You Didn’t Know Patreon that the expected viewership for this was much bigger.

It was the first time that CM Punk was appearing on the show which was the main attraction, as well. But the asked 250,000 figure was not met,

“I was told by a source in WWE today that there was a lot of talk at headquarters of the ratings for WWE Backstage and how they didn’t even break 250k. So they’re not happy about it.” (courtesy ringsidenews.com)

Meanwhile, CM Punk is continuously trending on the internet courtesy of his return to FOX. He had some tough words while dissecting the segments aired on Raw and SmackDown.

Apparently, he might have also upset the officials by calling out the Big Dog segment garbage.

However, as long as the FOX officials want him to continue with the stint, WWE can’t do anything about it. So CM Punk will have the opportunity to drop more pipebombs on weeks to come.

But he will not make regular appearances at WWE Backstage but rather will show up sporadically. At present, FOX has not advertised him to appear in the next episode.
