The last edition of Monday Night Raw witnessed a singles contest between Kane and Braun Strowman. It took place under the stipulation that the winner of this contest will go on to face Brock Lesnar for the Universal Championship. The next title defence for the reigning champion will take place at the Royal Rumble PPV which is the first dual-brand PPV in 2018.
But, as we have seen, the match turned out to be a no contest. Both men started brawling all around the arena making it a disqualification. As a result, we did not have any confirmations about what Brock Lesnar’s next challenge was going to be. The speculations of the champion potentially not defending the title were also up on the rumour mill.
However, WWE announced that Brock Lesnar would resurface on the next episode of Monday Night Raw to address the situation. It was officially announced the beast incarnate would himself address the condition, and probably come up with the idea of who his next opponent is going to be.
Dave Meltzer had an update about what the scenario might turn out to be at the Royal Rumble for the Universal Championship match. Instead, of facing any one of the monsters from the red brand, Brock Lesnar is now have to face both of them on January 28th. It will be a triple threat match for the prime title present on WWE Raw. Check out the updates from stillrealtous.com,
“Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that current plans call for Brock Lesnar to defend the WWE Universal Championship against Braun Strowman and Kane in a triple threat match at the pay-per-view. Several ideas were reportedly pitched for the title bout, but Vince McMahon decided on the triple threat match.”
Since The Boss himself made the plan intact, it is not likely that any other idea will be entertained unless he decides to change it at a later point. As of now, it is being assumed that the triple threat match will be announced on this week’s episode of WWE Raw when the Conqueror returns with Paul Heyman by his side. The champion is not likely to be happy if he has to defend the title against these two under a no DQ rule where he neither have to be pinned or submitted to lose the title.
