After the main event of Summerslam got cancelled due to Brock Lesnar’s action, the rematch was inevitable and that’s what WWE came up with. Brock Lesnar collided again with Randy Orton in the re-match. The match took place in the All-State arena of Chicago, Illinois. It was a live event and not part of WWE televised programming and so it aired on the WWE Network, only.
The beast appeared with his advocate Paul Heyman who cut a promo prior to the match. He let us know that the match would be contested in a No disqualification capacity which means Brock Lesnar can do whatever he wants. Nothing could stop him to give a hellacious beatdown to Randy Orton. Hence he named the match as a “Suplex City Death Match.”
As Lesnar was waiting inside the ring, Randy appeared with a steel chair in hand from behind and delivered an RKO to Lesnar right on the chair. At one point Randy was in driver’s seat too but the beast incarnate finished it in style by delivering an F-5 to the Viper. It was not enough because Lesnar took Orton to a Suplex City tour after the match.
It is still not understandable why WWE has arranged this blockbuster main event in a low affair untelevised affair. There would be millions of fans would be waiting to see the rematch take place. The speculation is that Brock Lesnar has already competed in four PPVs in the calendar year, as per his contract. So, he will not appear in any of the PPVs in 2016. The next time we get to see him will be at the Royal Rumble 2017.
The Orton-Lesnar match was not the main event of the live event though as Kevin Owens defended his title in a triple threat match against Seth Rollins and Sami Zayn.
