WWE: What to Expect from this Week’s Smackdown: January 30, 2018
The main event of this year’s Royal Rumble featured the women’s Royal Rumble match which was won by the Raw superstar, Asuka. But, the blue brand received a reason to be excited, as well, since a superstar from their wings has claimed the spotlight from the men’s division. It means they will be able to conduct a huge championship match at Wrestlemania 34.
Meanwhile, the problems around the WWE Championship nowhere near to be resolved with confusions surrounding, all around. All of those actions are expected to be addressed on tonight’s show of Smackdown Live from the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
This will be fourth consecutive night in a row that WWE is going to host a televised episode at this venue.
The WWE Championship match ended in a chaotic fashion, once again sparkling controversies. AJ Styles did retain the prime title against both Owens and Zayn, but he did not pin the legal man. The champions pinned the prizefighter when the actual legal man in the ring was Sami Zayn. The two of the heels will surely let their voices know on tonight’s show gunning for yet another title match.

Already, these two had a confrontation against Shane McMahon for the continuous injustice being done to them. Plus, Tye Dillinger’s spot at the Royal Rumble was also lost due to these twos involvement. So, a huge fallout is expected to take place on Smackdown Live. Also to be noted is that, this happening will be used, as a setup for the main event of the Fastlane PPV.
In the middle of all these happenings, Shinsuke Nakamura will have to wait until the Fastlane PPV to get under the spotlight. He had already wanted to face AJ Styles in the main event of Wrestlemania 34. However, we still have a roadblock known, as Fastlane which will decide whether Styles remains the champion, until then.
An address is expected at the women’s division picture, as well. After Ronda Rousey and Asuka stole the spotlight over on the WWE Raw women’s division, it will be time for the Smackdown women’s champion, Charlotte Flair to receive her next challenge. For quite sometimes, she did not receive a tough challenge for the title which is notable, too.
Dolph Ziggler returned at Royal Rumble, and so we expect him to show up on Smackdown Live addressing his actions from last December when he decided to vacate the US title. He is expected to be gunning for it, once again. Meanwhile, a contender’s match for the US title has been made official where Rusev, Kofi Kingston, Zack Ryder and Jinder Mahal will participate. The Usos have proven to be a dominant champion with their titles with another victory on past Sunday night. They will be ready to receive the next challenge in-store.
