WWE: What Transpired Once Smackdown Live Went Off The Air: July 25th, 2017

Last night’s WWE Smackdown turned out to be yet another great edition of the show with the Summerslam hype up finally getting started. The show kicked off with the new US Champion, Kevin Owens where we witnessed the return of Chris Jericho which was quite a shocking one for the WWE fans. There was no indication whatsoever about this surprise return and the crowd jumped out of their seat in joy.
He also competed in the main event of Smackdown in a triple threat match where AJ Styles emerged as the new US Champion. Apart from this, we had seen a confrontation between Jinder Mahal and John Cena which settled the WWE Championship speculation that was ongoing after the Battleground PPV.
The face-off between John Cena and the WWE Champion did not end on the show, as they had to share the ring once the cameras stopped rolling. On the dark match of the show, these two locked horns in a non-title match. This was the first time where Jinder took on the franchise player of the company.

As per traditions of this dark match, the babyface, John Cena looked to capitalise over the champion with his signature moves. But his momentum was cut short by the Singh Brothers who attacked from behind leading to the disqualification. You can check some of the pictures of the match given in the article.

Smackdown has recently started a tradition of hosting matches prior to the kick-off of the show and that too was kept intact. Before the main show went on the air, it was the Hype Bros who took on The Ascension in a pretty dud match. Mojo Rawley controlled the match for the most part before picking up the win, quite easily.

The reason behind giving Mojo an opportunity was because he belongs to Alexandria, Virginia and was considered to be the home town boy in Richmond. So, despite the boring match, the crowd gave little support to him who was kept off from the main show.
