At the time of bringing back the World Heavyweight Championship, Triple H specifically mentioned this one to be a workhorse belt. Proving that true, the Big Gold Belt from Monday Night Raw is being defended weekly be it on live TV, house shows, or in pay-per-views. At this point, the title is already scheduled for three separate defenses over three across brands and shows.
On this week’s episode of NXT, the World Heavyweight Championship holder Seth Rollins made a special appearance via titantron. This came as a response to the challenge laid down by the former NXT Champion Bron Breakker for the reintroduced title on the red brand.

Rollins came up with a positive response and he will now collide against Breakker for the World Heavyweight Championship during next week’s episode of NXT. Breakker is done going after the NXT Championship after coming up short against Carmelo Hayes at Battleground. He’s currently engaged in a feud with Ilja Dragunov. Last week, he took out Ilja in a backstage segment and that made the challenge to Rollins to prove that he was the most intense superstar on the NXT roster.
Currently scheduled World Heavyweight Championship defenses
Seth Rollins won the World Heavyweight Championship at Night of Champions in Saudi Arabia by defeating AJ Styles in the finale of a 12-man tournament. He then defeated Damian Priest on last week’s Raw to go through his first title defense. Next week’s NXT should mark Rollins’ third title defense since winning the belt at Night of Champions as he’s also scheduled to throw an open challenge for the title on next week’s Raw.
If Seth Rollins can escape these two upcoming title defenses and keep his title reign intact then he’ll again put the World Heavyweight Championship on the line against The Judgment Day member Finn Balor at Money in the Bank on July 1. Balor targeted Rollins and the title after his Judgment Day cohort Priest failed to win the gold.
Meanwhile, next week’s World Heavyweight Championship defense will mark Rollins’ return to the NXT brand for a match after almost a decade. The first-ever NXT Champion previously wrestled the-then WWE Champion CM Punk in 2013 on a weekly episode of NXT.
