Wrestlemania 38 is barely two months away in WWE calendar and it’s a PPV that the company plans way ahead of time. With Roman Reigns getting sidelined due to COVID-19, speculations were that WWE might have to renew their earlier planned angles for the Biggest Event of the Year. But then several sources confirmed that WWE is sticking to their original plans no matter how things turned in January.

It was not only Roman Reigns who was sidelined from the action at Day 1. Another top superstar Drew McIntyre did compete on that night but he reportedly suffer a legit injury and thereby had to be pulled off from the upcoming shows. This, in turn, kept things in jeopardy for Wrestlemania 38 as the former WWE Champion was also in WWE’s earlier ‘Mania planning.

WWE Wrestlemania 38 Plan Was In Jeopardy Due To Drew McIntyre’s Injury 1

Reports suggest that if McIntyre wasn’t cleared to return soon, then it could affect WWE’s WrestleMania 38 plans. There have been discussions in late 2021 to put him in the Universal Championship match at the Show of Shows (either in a singles match against Reigns or in a Triple Threat Match that will also have Brock Lesnar in it).

McIntyre is back on the road to Wrestlemania 38

“I don’t think anyone believed for a second [Madcap Moss] was going to beat Drew McIntyre. It’s funny because with Drew McIntyre being hurt, they could have done it, but they didn’t even dare do it,” noted a report from Wrestling Observer about McIntyre.

“I wouldn’t have either because, at the end of the day, the plan is still supposed to be Drew McIntyre vs. Roman Reigns at some point. So he shouldn’t be losing to Madcap Moss even if he is going to be hurt. Hopefully, the injury is not too bad.”

WWE Wrestlemania 38 Plan Was In Jeopardy Due To Drew McIntyre’s Injury 2

As reported earlier, McIntyre wrestled the most matches in WWE in 2021 which is 95, and taking overload could be a reason behind the injury. There’s no update on the severity of the injury but he’s back in time for Wrestlemania 38 in Dallas.

With WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns not working the last few Live Events of 2021 due to COVID-19, it was McIntyre who took his spot in the main event spot by working in even two matches at some of these shows, first a tag team match with The Usos and then a Street Fight in the main event against Sheamus.
