Months of frustrations will be vanquished at Wrestlemania 39 by Rey Mysterio when he would go toe-to-toe with Dominik Mysterio. For months now, he had avoided physical confrontation with his own flesh and blood on WWE programming. But things finally reached a boiling point on Smackdown when the veteran could no longer control himself from striking back Dom.
Over on the latest blue brand episode, Dominik not only reminded everyone about the WrestleMania 39 challenge laid out for Rey but he also cost Rey a matchup against LA Knight via distraction. However, Rey still wasn’t willing to face Dom in a match and rather opted to leave the ring.

Dominik then approached his mother Angie Mysterio and sister Alayah Mysterio who were sitting at ringside. After calling Rey a deadbeat, Angie was also accused of being a deadbeat Mom to Dominik. Rey had heard enough as he came back to ringside to punch Dominik in the face.
The Master of 619 then finally accepted his son’s challenge for a match at WrestleMania 39,
“You pushed me to do this, I didn’t want to hit you, you made me hit you! You want a fight at WrestleMania? You’re on! I’ll see you at WrestleMania, son.”

Rey and Dominik will create history at Wrestlemania 39
That being said, Wrestlemania 39 will be the second time that Rey and Dominik will share the ring, together at the biggest premium live event of the year. Back at Wrestlemania 37, they became the first father-son duo to capture tag team championships. Now Rey vs. Dominik appears to be the first-ever father vs. son matchup in WWE history.
Since Rey Mysterio will be entering the Hall of Fame during Wrestlemania 39 weekend, the speculation had the high-flying superstar possibly hanging up his boots for good following this match against young Dom. However, that’s not the case.
The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Mysterio will not be retiring after WrestleMania 39 despite the rumors. Mysterio, at one point, consider having his final match on April 1 but Triple H talked him out of the idea.
Now, the Greatest Mask of All Time will be inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame on March 31 and continue his in-ring career unlike most of the WWE Hall of Famers. The Great Muta and Andy Kaufman have been confirmed to receive the HOF honor alongside the three-time world champion.
