Wrestlemania 40 (aka Wrestlemania XL) will be the biggest pop-culture extravaganza to be delivered by the WWE, next year. It will take place on Saturday, April 6, and Sunday, April 7, 2024, at the Lincoln Financial Field in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and WWE is yet to officially announce any superstar or match for the Premium Live Event. But that doesn’t contain the excitement around the largest PLE of the year.
Speculating the marquee matches around Wrestlemania 40 is already underway with Roman Reigns again forecasted to be in the Main Event since he is still expected to be the Undisputed WWE Universal Champion by that time. Cody Rhodes is another speculated main-eventer of the Show of Shows.
Wrestlemania 40: WWE’s Current Plans Regarding The Main Event Match
Now, we have one more main-event contender match from the women’s division of the WWE for Wrestlemania 40. According to the reports of Xero News, WWE is currently discussing Charlotte Flair vs. Bianca Belair for the 2024 edition of WrestleMania. Of course, this match should go down over the Smackdown Women’s Championship.
Wrestlemania 40: Charlotte Flair vs. Bianca Belair expected to go down
Bianca has been the Raw Women’s Champion (despite being drafted to the SmackDown brand during the 2023 Draft) before dropping the belt to Asuka at Night of Champions. She held on to the red brand women’s division belt for over 400 days, which makes her the longest-reigning Women’s Champion of the modern era.
On the flip side, Charlotte Flair is an overall 14-time women’s champion who has held the Raw Women’s Title on six occasions and the Smackdown Women’s Title, seven times which is more than anybody in WWE history. Hence, it’s fitting to pit these two women in the main event spotlight at Wrestlemania 40.
Charlotte Flair couldn’t feature on Wrestlemania 39 main event slot
In the co-main event of WrestleMania 39 Saturday, Charlotte Flair dropped her SmackDown Women’s Championship to 2023 Women’s Royal Rumble winner Rhea Ripley. The match was highly praised by fans and critics to be the best match of ‘Mania card. Hence, Flair was depressed over not getting the main-event slot.
It seems like WWE could make it up for Charlotte Flair at Wrestlemania 40 by putting her against Bianca. Previously, Flair main-evented Wrestlemania 35 in 2019 in a Triple Threat Match also featuring Ronda Rousey and Becky Lynch. Bianca had the first singles women’s main-event match by her name as she defeated Sasha Banks at Wrestlemania 37 Night One for the Smackdown Women’s Championship.
