One of the marquee matches at Wrestlemania Backlash 2022 saw a Wrestlemania rematch between Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair. Smackdown Women’s Title was hanging in the balance in an I Quit match and in the end, we got a champion in Rousey, proving the speculations true of a title change.
As seen at Wrestlemania Backlash 2022, The Baddest Woman on the Planet officially became the new SmackDown Women’s Champion after forcing Charlotte Flair to say, “I Quit”. It was a fitting way for the new champion to clinch a title win over her bitter rival after getting scr**ed at Wrestlemania by the referee.
In what was an out-and-out physical encounter at Wrestlemania Backlash 2022, Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair brawled all around the ringside area, up the ramp, and into the stairwell, taking advantage of the I Quit stipulation which brings an ‘anything goes’ no-DQ environment.

The two fierce competitors used a variety of weapons, including kendo sticks and chairs, and both separately dominated the Wrestlemania Backlash 2022 encounter. Flair even launched a drink in the face of Rousey at one stage to humiliate her. Rousey unleashed her newly found submission specialist avatar, while Flair brought out more of her powerful moves to make her opponent say “I Quit.”
In the finishing sequence, Flair connected with her Natural Selection finisher inside the ring, slamming Ronda Rousey onto a chair. But that the former UFC Bantamweight Champion wasn’t ready to quit, yet. Rousey eventually caught Flair’s arm and put it into her pendant Armbar inside of the chair. Flair resisted as much as possible but Rousey tightened her hold and Flair eventually uttered the words ‘I Quit’ to end the contest at Wrestlemania Backlash 2022.

Thus Flair’s seventh title reign with the blue brand title has come to end. She won the title the night after Crown Jewel 2021 as part of the WWE Draft shift process from Raw to Smackdown. She was picked by Smackdown and hence had to hand over the Raw Women’s Title to Becky Lynch who passed on the blue brand belt to her.
Wrestlemania Backlash 2022 marks the beginning of Ronda Rousey’s second title reign in the WWE. This is her first title run with the Smackdown Women’s Title that is likely to kick off some fresh feuds on Friday nights in due course.
