Wrestlemania Backlash 2022 featured a rematch between WWE Hall of Famer Edge and AJ Styles and it was Edge who secured another victory. Back at Wrestlemania 38, unprecedented assistance helped the Rated-R Superstar to one-up his opponent in a dream match. The scene was somewhat similar during the latest premium live event where another top Raw superstar joined forces with Edge and his newly formed stable.
As noted, Edge was able to secure another victory over AJ Styles at WrestleMania Backlash 2022 but this time he got the help of the latest member of the Judgment Day faction, Rhea Ripley.

Much like Wrestlemania 38, it was AJ Styles who dominated the contest at Wrestlemania Backlash 2022 but in the end, it was the WWE Hall of Famer whose arms were raised following the contest.

At one point in the match at Wrestlemania Backlash 2022, The Phenomenal One seemed to have things under control as he headed to the top turnbuckle to connect with a modified Phenomenal Forearm due to his shoulder injury. But then Damian Priest appeared at ringside, despite the stipulation that he was banned from ringside. This is the reason why Edge’s right-hand man had to stand away from the ring so that the match rules aren’t broken.

Finn Balor also appeared to provide backup to AJ Styles as he brawled Priest away from the ring. But suddenly, a masked wrestler pushed AJ Styles off the top rope. This allowed Edge to get the victory with ease in a similar fashion to the Show of Shows. Once the match was over, Edge revealed that it was Rhea Ripley who was underneath the mask.
For weeks now, rumors of Rhea Ripley joining the faction created by Edge were running rampant. This was eventually fueled after Ripley turned heel on her former tag team partner Liv Morgan a few weeks ago and beat her down. Wrestlemania Backlash 2022 proved those speculations right as The Nightmare has now found an evil place where she could unleash her brutality.
