The Impact Wrestling Promotion has undergone a lot of changes in the last two years. Last year, at this point, they faced a major financial trouble to begin the rumours of getting sold out. Even, WWE intended to buy the promotion. But, later Anthem Sports took the brand over.
But, that unstable phase forced a lot of marquee names from the brand to come out of their wings. Performers like The Hardy Boyz, Drew McIntyre, Mike and Maria Kanellis and more found a way to get rid of the promotion and most of them signed up with the WWE. Going by the rumours, we might get another name added to the list who was also a former WWE Superstar.
Bobby Lashley might be the name to be featured on this list, as per the recent reports. PWInsider.com has reported that the former Impact Wrestling World champion is nurturing the future options, at this point and might choose to leave. However, there’s no chance for him to sign a contract with the WWE, in future.
The source has suggested that former WWE Intercontinental Champion is looking forward to expanding his stint as an MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) performer, going forward. Hence, if he does announce to retire from Impact, then it will mean that he is going away from the entire pro-wrestling industry which will be pretty sad for the fans.
The rumours about the same started to flying in after Lashley lost the Impact World title at the Slammiversary PPV. He had a dominant title run of 175 long days before he locked horn against Alberto El Patron at the main event of PPV mentioned above on July 2nd. On that night, the Impact and GFW titles were unified by the Mexican Aristocrat.
Following the loss, Bobby Lashley posted a tweet on his official account stating that he needs a career evaluation going forward. It was a serious indication of his future. When it comes to the MMA world, he is not new to it. He is under contract with the MMA promotion named, American Top Team.
The agents from this company are in talks with the Impact owners to finalise the future for Lashley. Considering that his age is 41 and he has spent almost two decades in the pro-wrestling business, it’s time for him to quit and make way for the newer names.
