WWE/Indie News: Biggest Wrestling Tournament In The World Gets Cancelled in UK

As per the earlier reports, a tournament was about to kick off which was said to be the biggest of its generation.

It was to be hosted by the 5-Star Wrestling tournament in the United Kingdom. Various superstars from around the world were contacted to take part in it including the likes of Rob Van Dam, Moose, El Ligero, John Morrison and more.

Now, according to the updates of El Ligero the first date of the tournament has been cancelled. The date June 10th was fixed to kick off the show from the Echo Arena in Liverpool, England.

The recent terror attacks in the United Kingdom is the supposed reason for the cancellation. This was going to to be a knockout category tournament featuring 128 superstars. No updates were given till date from the company regarding the cancellation of the same.

The news appeared to be quite shocking for the fans but considering that an indie wrestling veteran announcing the same, it is certainly legit. El Ligero aka Simon Jones Mask is habituated to wrestle around the globe for various independent promotions and hence he also intended to get booked by some other company for the upcoming dates.

This also clarifies the status of the tournament indicating the future of the same is in jeopardy, for sure. Since the beginning of the same controversies is surrounding this series. It is the same promotion who tried to float a false rumour of CM Punk returning to in-ring competition.

This was intentionally done by one of the cornerstones of 5-star wrestling to hype up the upcoming event. He declared on Twitter that he has offered CM Punk a one-million dollar contract to get back into pro-wrestling, again. In addition, he also stated that the former WWE champion has agreed to it and intending to make his comeback.

However, the very next day, the promotion confirmed that there were no such talking between them and Punk. Meanwhile, they did say that Rob Van Dam is returning after quite a long time to the squared circle.
It is pretty unfortunate to get such a big event getting cancelled. The fans who have bought tickets for the same is trying to find out the truth since no official statement has been given to them.
